The Doomsday Clock was created at the start of the nuclear age by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists from University of Chicago. It is a symbolic clock face showing how close mankind is to catstrophe (midnight) either through all out nuclear war or more recently, climate change. The highest it ever went was 2 mins to midnight in 1953 after the USA detonated the first Hydrogen Bomb. Its current position is 11:55 - Five Minutes to Midnight (as shown above)
